Egyptian Polychrome & Gold Mummy Cartonnage Collar
——
A vibrant ancient Egyptian cartonnage fragment of a polychrome mummy collar. The linen collar is adorned in blue and yellow painted rosettes as well as red, white, blue and green beaded necklace patterns. The top center presents a lustrous raised human-headed golden Ba bird that represents, in essence, the immortal soul of the deceased mummy. The Ba bird is sitting on a golden pectoral that encompasses either various deities, or 3 of the sons of Horus.
